JOURNEY - DAY 14

TODAY'S STEPS

READ:  Colossians 4:1-5

In Your Journal:

#1 - Write a prayer of praise that is inspired by the words of this passage.  Make it personal to you.

#2 - Reflect on the last 24 hours.  How did the Lord work in your personal life, your professional/academic life, and your relationships?

STUDY

What if you viewed everyone in your path as intentional messengers sent by God to sharpen your skills?  How does it change your perspective?

*Share your experience on Comments.

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

  1. I think it would allow me to be less reactionary, to listen to what God is telling me and to be more patient. We ignore so much of life, especially these days with so much technology, when someone asks how you are doing- they don’t expect an answer… But maybe they need to get one, maybe we need to give one, maybe we need to stop. Maybe we need to look at each relationship, each acquaintance, each person we pass on the street as an opportunity to grow, to change or to change someone else on even the tiniest of scales. To smile, to say hello, to pause long enough to hear how they are doing and respond genuinely. We all do it, rush through life to get to the next point, eventually that point will be the end and what will we have to show for it? Will we have made an impact? Are we impacting lives anymore, or are we just consumers? We sit at restaurants texting, Instagram everything, gone is the dinner table, replaced with meals in front of screens of every shape and size. We no longer connect physically. Human touch is forgotten, words lost upon ears long ago, the sound of ringtones and texts, FB and email are our hellos. When did we let go of one another?

  2. Those steps that you advised are indeed worth doing. Usually we don't pay enough attention to what happens with us during the day. We don't even notice that some of our actions offend God and make us more distant from Him. Prayer is an indespensible part of me. That's why I am so happy.
