On December 1 2010, my lifelong friend Brian died of a sudden, massive heart attack. He was only 40. He left behind his wife and 3 very young children. Brian was the best father I knew, completely selfless in his actions toward everyone and totally comfortable with who he was.
So for Brian, I will try to be a better father today, live for others and simply try to be me.

Losing my Grandma last week has encouraged me to look at my life more closely. She was a dedicated Christian… always trying to learn more about her Savior and get closer to Him. She was a constant “learner”. Her age didn’t hold her back. She did her best to learn and master new skills. And she was a true optimist. She had an extremely hard life, but even right up to the end of her 94 years she saw the cup as half full. She said to me, “Nicole, I brought nothing here and I’m taking nothing out”… such a generous, kind and special woman. The simplicity of her life is so attractive. People mattered to her, not things. I miss her dearly, and reflecting on her life has made me want strive to live a life that people will celebrate one day.
