Spiritual WOD - 1/4/2012

There are great promises given to the faithful person who obeys the commands in our memory verses this week...

"My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity." (Proverbs 3:1-2)

Define true "prosperity."

  2. Define true “prosperity.” -- I think it should be contentment with giving, but it is hard to be content & it is hard to give as we should, let alone to be content with our current season and to give as we should. However, I think that if we could be content and giving, the Lord would see that we prospered in ways that we may not have considered.

  3. Sarah, I like your definition. I think I would define prosperity as "Lacking the desire for more". Many people who have a lot still desire more, so they never get to enjoy true prosperity. If we can understand that all we have comes from God and that he cares for us as his children, then we can begin to experience prosperity regardless of our posessions here on earth. Not an easy task, but one worth pursuing.

  6. A spiritual life that is flourishing and thriving. When you go to sleep each night or wake up in the morning with the thought that God allows us to find contentment and solutions in our daily walk on this earth with the promise of eternal life. I find that when I am prospering the most, I am being a servant for God.

  7. Prosperity in HIS unconditional love and salvation.
We, as believers, can prosper so greatly if we just let HIM lead us.

  8. Look at all the comments!! All so encouraging as none of them mention financial gain as "true" prosperity which is often preached today.

I'm reminded of two scriptures: (1) godliness with contentment is great gain. ITimothy 6:6. (2) For we know that all things work together for good to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.

It's so wonderful to be in the family of God and hear from my brothers and sisters that I have yet to meet! :)
