Although it was only momentary, my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, prayed for the Father to take the cup from him in the garden shortly before he was betrayed. More importantly he then prayed that God’s will be done, not his own. Jesus’ obedience on the cross blesses all who will accept and follow him with the gift of salvation.

The Apostle Paul prayed for the thorn in his side to be removed. It was not. Instead he was given a deeper appreciation for the sufficiency of God’s grace.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his own bothers out of hatred. He followed God whole-heartedly, became 2nd most powerful man in Egypt then saved his brothers from a drought. Ironic.

Paul desired greatly to visit the church in Rome, the Lord had other plans for him and when he finally got to Rome it was as a prisoner to death. Paul always understood that God was guiding his path. And because of his faithfulness, obedience and love for his risen savior the gospel was proclaimed/spread throughout the gentile nations.

Job, even though a righteous man, faced unspeakable suffering. When in his darkest time he cried out to God, asking for an answer as to why he was given such trials. It wasn’t until Job stopped demanding an answer and humbled himself in the sight of the Lord’s rebuke that he understood God’s plan. At this point in time God raised Job up and blessed him well beyond the first part of his life.
Job 38:35 “Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?” WOW
