"Before success comes in any man's life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failure.  When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit.  That is exactly what the majority of men do." (Napoleon Hill)

  2. A few years ago I had lost everything that made me, me to alcohol and drugs. I went into a 12 step program and gained the following back:

By the pure grace of God I have these things on my life
    1. a personal relationship with God
    2. Sobriety one day at a time as long as I stay spiritually fit and seek God's will not mine
    3. Family that trusts me
    4. Good physical health and the ability to use my body
    5. The desire to be of service to my fellows and care for them

  4. Everyday, I thank the Lord for all of life's challenges as they make me stronger and further strengthen my relationship with God. Defeat teaches humbleness (May I never boast except in the cross). It demonstrates the importance of unwavered commitment and hard work. And, it allows you reflect and refocus on the true priorities in life.

  5. I have learned the difference between a decision and a commitment. I decided to follow Christ a long time ago and submit the various areas of my life to him. When facing defeat, I saw some areas that were not truly submitted. I knew I was really submitted when I was ok with His will even if it didn't line up with my plans. Had I not faced defeat, I would have went on believing I was submitted when I really wasn't.

  7. 3 Positive things from defeat:
    1. Exposing a weakness. We all have weaknesses we can work to strengthen, many times being defeated will expose an area we thought to be a strength.
    2. Humility.
    3. Proof of the need for others. To steal from another writer, no man is an island unto himself. As a person I depend on my wife to strengthen me. As a Sailor, I depend on my shipmates to accomplish my mission.

  8. I have struggled for years, good and very bad days, my God has and is my only relieve. Because of Chris I can say one day at a time , I never feel strong enough for the challenge but I haven't given up. Though there are days I would rather not be here.... Like today

    Strength
    Patience
