"In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free. 6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? 7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies. 8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. 9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes." (Psalm 118:5-9)
Fearing God: Respecting commands that are about everyday life, smaller mattters, these are universal to everyone, routine/consistent matters
ReplyDeleteTrusting God: Following God's direction for my life, BIG matters, these are unique to person, often difficult phases
Fearing God is knowing you can't escape his power. Trusting God is letting go of the fear of anything else, even satan. If we trust God fully, and know that his will is perfect, then why should we fear anything else?
ReplyDelete"To fear the lord is to be overwhelmed with wonder before the greatness of God and his love." -Timothy Keller
ReplyDeleteI cannot trust God, without fearing Him. I wouldn't trust a god that isn't just, all powerful, THE creator, magnificent and yet merciful and supremely loving. My fear of the Lord is the foundation for my trust in him.
