TODAY'S STEPS

REFLECT: What is the common method of THINKING in Jesus' response to all three temptations?

RESOLVE:  Write down one of Jesus' responses that truly speaks to you.

"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry."

  1. "But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” (Verse 4)

I cannot rely on things like the WOD, coffee, or whatnot to sustain me. I must draw that sustenance from our Blessed Lord.

  2. The common thinking/approach of Jesus is to use the sword...the Bible...to quote refutes against the devil. For me verse 10 is the one that speaks to me "worship the Lord your God, and serve him only."

  3. "Away from me Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only." - Very definitive. His "no" meant no. There was no grey area. I think that is something that I struggle with. I am always trying to justify things with a "well, once won't kill me." Where that maybe true, it will not strengthen me either and I have to remember that. I have been working on it and gotten much better.
