What principles in God’s instructions to church leaders apply to your leadership roles?
“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers - not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. “ (1 Peter 5:2-3)
Contemporary English Version: “Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. Don’t be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them.”

The instructions that apply to me in my leadership role is to “do it willingly in order to please God” (not man), money should have nothing to do with it, and be an example (at my home as a mother/wife, at work as a worker, or even at my various workout environments as a CrossFitter). I am to follow God’s lead willingly (with enthusiasm). I have been given the responsibility to care for my family, a community (at work) and my body and I’m doing so willingly (and with enthusiasm on most days)!
