Faith WOD

TODAY'S STEPS
REFLECT:  What is the main difference between the old and new covenants?

RESPOND:  Set a timer for 3 minutes.  Using pen & paper, list the skills, abilities, and accomplishments that make you "qualified" to serve in the kingdom of God.

*Then, demonstrate your total reliance on God by throwing the paper in the garbage.

*Share your experience on Comments.

"But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ." (Philippians 3:7-8)

  1. As I began to list the abilities that qualify me to serve in the Kingdom of God I quickly realized that they mean nothing if I don't have christ. Sometimes I can get so focused on doing "ministry" that I forget why and I serve, who I serve and how blessed I am to be able to serve Christ. This faith work was timely in that I was just thinking that today about the gym, my workouts and fitness then I suddenly realized all of that means nothing to me next to my relationship with Chris and my family. Thanks for helping confirm what the holy spirit was showing me today. This is my first visit to the site's, but I will not be a regular visitor.

  2. Why am i qualified to do Gods work?
Because God sent His only Son to die for me- Jesus is Lord! Nothing that I have done qualifies me! God chose me.

  4. I have to admit it hurt to tear up my list of "qualifiers." At the same time, it's freeing to know that I could make the same list of my "disqualifiers" and tear it up as well. Anything good we are or we have is through Christ alone. More importantly, Christ can, will, and loves to work through us despite our faults and shortcomings. I have to remind myself daily that God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
