REFLECT:  What part of this experience was most shocking to the crowd?

  1. "He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free." These are the aspects that can only be realized through Christ's power. Only God could set the captives free and make the blind see just as he had promised in Isaiah. The aspects correspond to me personally because I was blind to my sin, and a captive of this world's thinking and behaviour and only through Christ's power were my eyes opened and was I set free.

  3. I spent a lot of my life ignoring the Gospel, and then wishing and hoping for it to open my eyes and set me free. His power delivered me when I surrendered my will to God and realized that Christ was with me all along. As those in the verse from Luke, I understand the prophesy has been fulfilled and the work has already been done ... All I have to do is have the faith and courage to follow Him.
